Welcome and thank you for your business!
We are delighted that you have chosen Center for the Childbearing Year to help prepare for your upcoming birth or for your professional training needs. Please read the information below regarding attending classes at the Center.
Location
The location for this class is 722 Brooks St., between Summit and Miller, just east of Mack School (near the intersection of N. Seventh and Miller, about one mile west of downtown Ann Arbor). CLICK HERE FOR DIRECTIONS.
Parking
Parking is on the street only. Please do not park in our lot. Parking is available on the east side of the street only (that’s the same side that the Center is on). Just be sure to check for signs indicating where you cannot park. In addition, please be careful not to park too close to our neighbors’ driveways (by city statute, you cannot park within three feet of a private driveway and some of our neighbors will ensure enforcement of this statute). If necessary, you can park around the corner or in the Mack School lot (except on Friday).
As you approach our building from the street, please enter through the parking lot in front of our building and avoid cutting through our neighbor’s driveway on the right (purple house). Thank you!
Perfume
Please refrain from wearing perfumes or other strong scents when attending class.
Children & Guests
In our classes for expectant parents, each mother is welcome to bring one support person to class. We cannot accommodate unpaid guests in our trainings under any circumstances. In-arms nursing infants six months of age and younger are welcome. We do ask, however, that you find childcare for your other children.
“Should I bring anything to class?”
If you are a note taker then, by all means, bring a pad of paper and a pen. Dress comfortably—we are an informal crowd and we will be doing some activities on the floor.
Winters Storms & Canceling Classes
We will not cancel or refund professional doula trainings due to winter storms. Please allow plenty of extra time for travel if bad weather is threatening. If you prefer to transfer your registration to another scheduled training that we offer, that is acceptable.
For our classes for parents, we rarely cancel. If there are a few inches of snow on the ground or a couple of inches predicted on the evening/day of class, we will still go ahead with the class. However, if it appears that heavy snow/blizzard conditions will coincide with the start and/or end times of the class, then we will cancel. Typically, I wait until mid-afternoon to make the call. You will be notified by both phone and email in case of cancellation. A make-up date will be announced for all canceled classes.
