Refund Policy ~ Important ~ Please Read
A full refund, minus a $50 cancellation fee will be provided upon request up until four weeks before a class begins. After that time, refunds will not be issued, though students may transfer their registration to a future class one time and only one time. Should you be unable to attend the makeup date without providing a minimum of four weeks’ notice, then your fee will be forfeited. Class registration fees are not transferable to a second party.
For refund requests on unused portions of the Doula Business Builder Deluxe Package, each component completed will be valued at its full fee and then the balance refunded, minus the $50 cancellation fee. The four-week cancellation deadline still applies for each component of the Business Builder Package, so that refunds are not provided once we are within four weeks of a class start date.
If you are registered for the DONA Birth Doula Workshop:
- Please read the DONA Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics for Birth Doulas prior to class.
- This book is required: The Birth Partner: Everything You Need to Know to Help a Woman through Childbirth, 4th Edition (2013), Simkin. You do not need to read the book prior to the workshop, but specific sections of the book are referenced in the course manual we will provide and it will serve as an important reference for study purposes.
If you are registered for the Postpartum Doula Workshop:
- Please read the DONA Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics for Postpartum Doulas prior to class.
If you registered for one of our Doula Business Builder Packages:
Please email patty@center4cby.com with your preferred training dates. She will confirm with you. Note that I cannot save your spot in a specific training until you tell me to do so. All trainings are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Refreshments & Breaks
- We will provide healthy, substantial snacks and beverages during break times for all classes. For the morning, it is the equivalent of a continental breakfast (e.g., a selection of fruit, sweet bread, instant oatmeal, trail mix, yogurt, whole grain bread with peanut butter and jelly, etc.).
- Lunch and dinner are not provided. You can bring a lunch with you or go out to eat. We are just one mile west of downtown Ann Arbor and there are many places to choose from. A microwave and refrigerator are available for those who opt to pack a lunch and we have a nice little courtyard with tables and chairs in the back of the Center for use when the weather is nice.
- For day-long trainings, an hour lunch break is typically between 1 and 2pm and there will also be mid-morning and mid-afternoon breaks.
Breastfeeding Mothers
In-arms breastfeeding babies under six months of age are welcome in trainings. If you do bring your baby, please be prepared to leave the room if your baby becomes fussy or otherwise disruptive (there is space available for this). The needs of breastfeeding mothers of older babies will be accommodated as follows: your baby can be brought to you during scheduled break times; you may also pump in class or (if preferred) in adjacent semi-private space, as needed; and a kitchenette, with refrigerator and freezer, is available for your use.

There may be other places in Ann Arbor to stay; check online for options. You can always Google the directions and miles from your hotel to the training site to determine which choices are closest. When scheduling trainings, I try to steer away from home football game weekends and other big University of Michigan events like graduation, however, sometimes dates change. I recommend that you do not wait to the last minute to secure a room.
