The Belly Mapping Workbook by Gail Tully
On the Edge-Hot Topics, Reviews & Cool Stuff
My regular Thursday blog will feature controversial topics, media reviews, and pretty much anything I think you will like.
Gail Tully, owner of the fascinating SpinningBabies.com website, has just published The Belly Mapping Workbook. The book features:
- 48 pages, spiral bound, laminated cover
- Fully illustrated with many drawings and black and white photos
- A cool transparency to help you find your baby’s position on the Fetal Compass Rose
- Several places to write or draw your own “Belly Map” to record your journey
- Sections on breech and twins
- What to do in pregnancy and labor for optimal fetal positioning with spinning babies techniques
- Gail’s new invenion, the Glossodex (glossary and index) and over 30 references to make belly mapping a useful educational tool for childbirth educators, doulas, and providers
This is fun stuff. Encourages pregnant women to tune into their baby’s position in the womb and acknowledges the mother as the authority on her own body and baby. When we have done belly mapping workshops at the Center, expectant parents, doulas, aspiring midwives, and medical students have enjoyed the hands-on, playful, non-invasive, pro-active approach to fetal positioning. Check it out.
