I was a working breastfeeding mother. My daughter never was able to take a bottle. When I first went back to work my Husband would bring my daughter on my lunchbreak. I was a few minutes late punching in a few times so I was written up. I decided to have him bring her on the nights I worked late. I was late a couple more times and written up. The last time I was late I was suspended and then had to call in one day because of the point system I waS fired. Is it legal to be written up for being a few minutes late due to breastfeeding?

Hi Jamie, I don’t know that the law covers being late due to breastfeeding — it just requires that the employer allow you time to pump and a place to do it. I think your question is best asked of a La Leche League leader or other breastfeeding professional who might be more acquainted with all the ins and outs than I am! Patty Brennan
