Researchers Argue for Delayed Cord Clamping

In the March 2010 issue of the Journal of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, researchers argue that allowing the umbilical cord to pulsate before being clamped amounts to “mankind’s first natural stem cell transplant.” The authors explored the advantages and disadvantages of delayed cord clamping and concluded that it should be encouraged in normal births.
