Blue Cross Network Reimbursement

As of January 2008, we have been assured that our previous arrangement with MCare to provide partial reimbursement for the Childbirth Preparation and Breastfeeding Basics classes will continue for Blue Care Network Premier Plan subscribers. In the past, the Childbirth Preparation series reimbursement amount was $120 and the Breastfeeding Basics class amount was $30. If you participate with this plan, then you should be eligible to receive reimbursement for the cost of one class per year (in other words, the maximum you can be reimbursed by BCN in one calendar year is $120, unless both you and your partner are independently enrolled in the plan).

However, despite receiving reassurances that this coverage will continue under the new management, we have not been able to actually speak with a benefits representative at the University of Michigan to nail down all the details regarding reimbursement and, so far, have not been able to confirm absolutely that reimbursement will occur. Please be assured that we are working on this and believe it will come about and that it will likely be retroactive to the first of January 2008. However, if receiving reimbursement is a make-it-or-break-it deal for you, then we cannot absolutely confirm at this point in time that it will go through. As soon as we receive word, we will post it here and contact those of you who have signed up for classes and qualify for reimbursement to let you know the status.

You must pay the full fee for each class, to the Center, up front. Once BCN confirms their procedures with us, we will provide you with the necessary paperwork to submit your claim for reimbursement.
