Birth & Parenting News: OTC Painkillers in Pregnancy?

Three common, mild painkillers used in pregnancy have been linked to male reproductive disorders, according to a new study. Researchers found that paracetamol (Tylenol), aspirin, and ibuprofen (Motrin) were all connected to an increased risk of giving birth to sons with undescended testicles (cryptorchidism). This condition is a known risk factor for poor semen quality and testicular germ cell cancer in later life. The risk appeared to be greatest when the painkillers were used in combination with one another, or when used in the second trimester of pregnancy. Read the study.

Meanwhile, the CDC has launched a new Medications and Pregnancy website.
