pregnant-sisters-019_opt.jpgThis hands-on training is designed for aspiring midwives and midwife assistants. We will practice on each other and on pregnant women. The following aspects of clinical prenatal care are covered:

  • How to take and interpret a health history
  • Estimating the due date
  • Nutritional counseling and case studies
  • Diagnostic skills – blood pressure, pulse, urinalysis, interpreting blood work
  • Palpating baby’s position in utero
  • Estimating baby’s size in utero
  • Measuring uterine growth
  • Estimating amniotic fluid levels
  • Checking for edema
  • Listening to fetal heart tones
  • Pulling it altogether — case studies
